Moving to a new Houston home or remodeling your kitchen? Follow these steps to move a Liebherr refrigerator safely and restart it without damaging the cooling system.
A Liebherr refrigerator is heavy, finely built and full of parts that do not like rough handling. Whether you are moving across Houston or pulling the unit out for a kitchen remodel, a little preparation prevents expensive surprises.
Keep the cabinet upright whenever you can. If it must tilt, use the position your manual allows, and avoid laying it flat. Use a proper appliance dolly with straps. Never lift by the doors or handles, and protect the floor and the edge of the cabinet at every turn.
Place the unit on a firm floor and level it using the feet. Keep the clearances shown for your model, because a cabinet that cannot breathe cools poorly. After the move, let the refrigerator stand upright for a few hours before you plug it in, so the oil and refrigerant settle. Once it is on, give it time to reach temperature before loading food, and check the display for alerts.
A unit that hums but stays warm, makes unusual noises, or shows an alarm after a move should be looked at before food goes back in. We check the cooling system, the sensors, the door seal and the leveling, then provide a written price.
