Liebherr CS1640 SmartSteel IceMaker Repair

The CS1640 is the IceMaker version of the 30-inch SmartSteel family, hinged on the right and rated at 15.2 cubic feet. With 2.2 pounds of ice per day and a 3.3 pound bin, it is built for households that go through a lot of ice, which also means the water valve works hard.
Our visit starts with a flow test at the IceMaker valve and the fill tube, because the most common change in an older unit is slow ice. Next we look at the freezer defrost cycle and the right-hand gasket. If you see water on the floor, we separate the IceMaker line from the defrost drain, since they are two different sources.
The price is written before we start, and we give a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Scale in the valve and tube restricts the fill. We test the flow, clean the inlet screen, and replace the valve if it no longer opens fully, then check that ice is produced on the next cycle.
It is either the IceMaker line or the defrost drain. We trace each, starting with the connection behind the unit and then the drain at the base of the cabinet.
Use the control on the unit, and close the water supply as well for long absences. We can show you where the valve is when we visit.
