Why Your Liebherr Wine Cabinet Glass Sweats in Houston Summers

Beads of moisture on the glass door of a Liebherr wine cabinet are common in humid weather. Here is how to tell harmless condensation from a real problem.

When a cold glass door meets humid Houston air, water collects on the outside, the same way it does on a glass of iced tea. In many cases it is simply weather, not a broken cabinet.

Normal condensation

Light moisture that appears on hot, sticky days and clears when the air conditioning catches up is generally normal. It is more likely if the cabinet is set very cold, if the room is humid, or if the door has just been opened several times.

Signs that point to a problem

  • Moisture that stays heavy even on mild days.
  • Water pooling at the bottom of the door or on the floor.
  • A door that does not feel snug when you close it.
  • Dripping inside the cabinet or damp labels.
  • A musty smell from the interior.

What you can check

  1. Close the door and look for a gap or a corner of the seal that has folded over.
  2. Run a clean finger along the seal. A flat, stiff or cracked spot lets humid air in.
  3. Confirm bottles or racks are not pushing against the glass.
  4. Check that the cabinet is level, since a tilt can prevent the door from sealing evenly.
  5. Wipe the glass and seal with a soft cloth and watch whether moisture returns quickly.

A leaky seal makes the cabinet work harder and lets humidity into the cellar space, which can loosen labels and, over time, encourage mold. A tight door is the simplest form of protection for your collection.

If you have cleaned the seal and the moisture keeps coming back, our technicians can test the door fit and the airflow and tell you what is happening before any work begins.
