A trickle or ice patch on the back wall of a Liebherr fridge compartment usually points to the defrost water drain. Here is what to check and when to call us.
Many Liebherr refrigerators collect the moisture that forms on the cold rear wall and send it down a small channel to a drain. When that path is blocked or the water has nowhere to go, you see droplets, a thin sheet of ice, or a puddle on the glass shelf above the crisper.
The drain is narrow by design. Tiny food particles, a leaf of lettuce, or a film of residue can partly block it. Food pressed against the back wall can also let moisture freeze in a spot where it should not, and a door that does not fully close brings in humid Houston air that adds to the problem.
Do not poke a wire or sharp tool into the drain. It is easy to damage the channel or the surrounding insulation, and a repair then becomes bigger than the original problem.
If the water returns within a day or two after you clear the area, or if ice keeps forming on the back wall, the drain path, a defrost part or the door seal may need attention. We trace where the water comes from, test the cooling cycle, and explain what we find before any work begins. Our written price comes first, and repairs carry a 30-day workmanship warranty.
To arrange a visit, see our refrigerator repair page or check the service area for your neighborhood. We offer three-hour arrival windows: 9 to 12, 1 to 4, and 4 to 7.
