Liebherr Wine Cabinet Door Light Stays On or the Door Will Not Seal

A Liebherr wine cabinet door that will not close fully, or an interior light that stays lit, can quietly raise temperatures. Here are the usual causes and fixes.

A wine cabinet door looks simple, yet small problems with it affect cooling, humidity and even your electric use. If the light stays on or the door seems loose, the cabinet may not be sealing the way it should.

Common reasons a door will not seal

  • A bottle or shelf sticking out far enough to touch the glass.
  • A seal with a fold, a flat spot or a bit of dried residue.
  • A cabinet that is not level, or that has settled after a floor change.
  • Cabinetry or a panel pressing against the door in a built-in installation.
  • A hinge that has loosened over time.

Why the light stays on

The interior light is usually controlled by a switch or sensor that detects when the door is open. If the door is not fully closed, the light may stay on, which also adds heat. Check for something blocking the door first, then look at the settings, since some Liebherr cabinets allow you to choose how the light behaves.

Simple checks

  1. Close the door slowly and watch where it stops.
  2. Slide the shelves in fully and rearrange tall bottles.
  3. Wipe the seal with mild soapy water and dry it.
  4. Place a thin strip of paper against the seal and close the door; if it slides out easily, the seal is not gripping.
  5. Check the cabinet with a level.

When to call

If the light stays on with the door shut, if the seal is damaged, or if the door sags, the part may need adjustment or replacement. A light left on or a door held ajar gradually warms the wine, so do not wait.
