Liebherr Refrigerator Water Filter Reminder and Slow Water Flow

If your Liebherr water dispenser slows down or the filter reminder appears, learn how timing, supply and Houston water quality affect flow.

On Liebherr models with a water dispenser or IceMaker, the filter does quiet, steady work. When it needs attention, the signs show up in how the water flows and how the ice tastes.

Signs the filter is due

  • A reminder appears on the display.
  • The dispenser fills a glass noticeably slower than before.
  • Water or ice tastes flat, musty or chlorinated.
  • Ice cubes look smaller, cloudy or irregular.

Replacement timing depends on your household’s water use and your water. Houston supplies vary by neighborhood, and some areas run harder or more heavily treated than others, so follow the interval in your owner’s manual and do not stretch it out.

Slow flow that a new filter does not fix

If a fresh filter still gives a weak stream, look at the rest of the path:

  • Make sure the filter is fully seated and turned to its locked position.
  • Check the shutoff valve behind or beside the refrigerator. It should be fully open.
  • Look for a kinked or crushed supply line where the refrigerator was pushed back.
  • Run a few glasses of water through to clear air after the change. Air in the line makes the first pours sputter.

When to call us

Leaks, drips at the filter housing, an ice maker that stops after a filter change, or a valve that does not open all call for a closer look. If you see water around the base of the cabinet, close the shutoff valve first.

We inspect the supply, the inlet valve and the dispenser path, then give you a written price. Our refrigerator repair page explains how to book, and the service area page shows where we work. Repairs include a 30-day workmanship warranty.
